The Background Concept

The West African Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Exhibitions (WAMSMEE) series is a market development strategy developed by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and facilitated by FemiBoyede Consulting Limited.

The vision is to position Nigerian MSMEs for effective and profitable participation in, regional, AfCFTA, and global trade.

Our drive is to create export-ready MSMEs who can hold their own when competing with exporters from other countries by providing a platform to test-market their products and services in their immediate catchment market, ECOWAS.

The flagship event of the series was the Nigeria-Gambia MSME Exhibition, which took place on 12th-20th October 2022

The Event

The flagship edition of WAMSMEE 2022, the Nigeria Gambia MSME Exhibition, featured products exclusively made in Nigeria and the Gambia. It ran from 12th October to 20th October.

It was the first edition of the West African Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Exhibition (WAMSMEE) between the Gambia & Nigeria. The bilateral, subregional event was held at the fair trade grounds around Brusibi turntable from the 12th to the 20th of October 2022.

Products sold were strictly made in the Gambia and Nigeria and included foods & condiments, arts & crafts, pharmaceuticals, agricultural commodities, cosmetics, leather and leather products, footwear, electrical cables, garments & apparel confectioneries, spices, solid minerals, chemicals amongst others. The event also helped participants link with their Nigerian counterparts for more investment opportunities in the Gambia.

This platform was facilitated by the Gambia Investment & Export Promotion Agency – GIEPA, the Nigerian High Commission in the Gambia and was proudly funded by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN). Renowned Gambian and Nigerian artists also performed at the fair.
